Oh how I love revisiting this event!! Erin and Evan’s wedding took place in Fallasburg Park in Lowell, Michigan along the gorgeous river setting with their reception in the enclosed pavillion in the same park.
Erin was a great Bride-to-be to work with and Kristen Carlson of K. Holly Studios captured amazing images of their day. Check out Kristen’s blog for more photos! Enjoy!

Erin's beautiful dress and her something blue...her shoes!

Erin chose to have some of her Bridesmaids carry hot pink Dahlias and roses and some of them carry light pink Dahlias with light pink roses. All of the arrangements had black feathers in them....love them!!

Erin's bouquet was with shades of pink roses with black feathers and a few diamonds in the centers of her roses for a touch of bling!

Erin created all of her programs and great signs leading guests to the wedding! Erin also chose simple light and hot pink sheer ribbons to go on the chairs with a few Gerbera daisy blossoms tucked in for color.

Erin also had small sheperd hooks on some of the chairs for small pomander balls to hang on.

I LOVE this photo of Erin! Beautiful!

Erin and Evan had everything planned to a tee! I love the candy bar!

Happy First Official Day of Fall!
With the weather slowly turning to cool mornings and warm afternoons, I find myself anticipating this year’s Autumn season with great enthusiasm! Although we didn’t have a tradional summer this year weather-wise, I think that the cooler weather is refreshing and brings me new energy to tackle Autumn wedding season!
This year’s fall wedding season brings so many wonderful elements to Ludemas! From “Chocolate” roses, to pumpkins to orange orchids to fall leaves and even apples in arrangements, you can’t go wrong with fall tones!
We have a few fall weddings that I am eagerly awaiting professional photos for, and I will definitely post them as soon as they are available!
In the meantime, don’t forget to check out ArtPrize - the WONDERFUL collection of pieces from over 1200 artists from around the world…including a wonderful friend of Ludemas, Nick Stokes of Stokes Studios who is displaying in The B.O.B.
More to come soon!!!

Since our website and blog was brand new this spring, I really missed out on blogging about some GREAT events that we did earlier this year. Throughout the next few weeks, I am going to be blogging “flashbacks”, which are weddings that have happened in the past, but are completely worthy of a blog!! I hope that you are able to enjoy these great events as much as I did….
I’m going to start with Katie and Pete (who again picked eggplant purple!! I swear this is not a coincidence!) who were an absolute joy to work with. Katie was very detailed and made my job very easy, and I love the colors that she chose!
Katie and Pete’s ceremony was at Mayflower Congregational Church, which is an extremely beautiful church, and one of my favorite places to decorate! Their reception was at the Hilton Airport Hotel, where Katie had white chair covers with deep purple chair ties, which really completed the room!
Take a peek at the beautiful phots from Kelli Wiseman of Clever Creations Photography

Katie and her bridesmaids!!

There it is again...love the purple! Katie picked out bright combinations of dark purple Stock, hot pink miniature Gerbera daisies, yellow Freesia, and two-tone orange and yellow roses.

The handsome groom with a boutonniere made with a "Mango" miniature Calla lily, deep purple Stock blossom, lime green Hypericum berries, and white Sweet Pea blossoms.

I love this shot in front of one of the windows at Mayflower!

The happy couple! Katie's bouquet had dark purple Stock, "Mango" miniature Calla lilies, white Sweet Peas, yellow Freesia, orange roses, and lime green Hypericum berries

If you have been reading my blog the last week, you will know that I have a slight obsession with deep eggplant purple and olive green, so of course I was SO pumped when I met Keana and Lance and learned what their colors were going to be!
For their flowers, Keana and Lance picked out deep eggplant purple Dahlias , lime green Hypericum berries and lime green Dendrobium orchid blossoms for the attendant’s bouquets, and a mix of white Dahlias, white miniature Calla lilies, lime green Hypericum berries and lime green Dendrobium orchid blossoms for the Bridal bouquet. Keana also chose curly willow to add some height to a few arrangements for the church and reception, which added a rustic, yet very charming accent to finish everything off.
Check out the gorgeous photos from Elizabeth at D & E Photography and additional photos on her blog. Elizabeth was fantastic!! It was such a pleasure to meet her and get some great photos!

The bridal bouquet - white Dahlias, white miniature Calla lilies, lime green Hypericum berries, and lime green Dendrobium orchid blossoms.

The bridesmaids carried small, simple (but very elegant!) bouquets of deep purple Dahlias, lime green Hypericum berries, and lime green Dendrobium orchids that had deep purple throats that tied everything together!

The gorgeous bride!

The groom wearing a white miniature Calla lily and lime green Hypericum berry boutonniere.

The Bride and Groom chose to use chocolate brown ceramic containers with clusters of deep purple Dahlias, lime green Hypericum berries and tall curly willow for height. Keana used the arrangements shown in this photo at the ceremony on her unity candle table, and then had us create a few more to go on her guest tables at the reception...double duty!!

The happy couple!

Earlier this year, our head florist, Lisa was approached by one of her long-time friends to see if Lisa would be available to do her wedding flowers, which of course was a big “YES!” from Lisa and Ludemas! I asked Lisa if she would like to be a “guest blogger” on the Events By Ludemas blog after her friend, Hannah’s wedding and she was up for it and gathered some amazing photos! I know you will enjoy Lisa’s blog below, and you will definitely be hearing more from her!

Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of doing the flowers for my friends Hannah and Jake. I just received some gorgeous shots from her photographers Kim Knauf & Karen Noel of Studio K2 Photographyin Coopersville Michigan and I can’t wait to share them with you. I’ve known Hannah since high school and was so honored that she asked me to do her wedding flowers.
I love Hannah because she marches to the beat of her own drummer and this lead to a fabulously unique wedding. From her choice of a birdcage veil and animal print shoe to the Rolls-Royce getaway vehicle Hannah put her special touch on everything.
Hannah’s bridesmaid dresses were brown and ivory. Brown has been a very popular color this summer but when many brides are pairing brown with pinks Hannah chose to use orange, fuchsia purple and lime green, the end product was beautiful. Take a look for youself…

These shoes are fabulous!

Hannah was so relaxed on her wedding day and I feel this photo shows it. Isn't she beautiful?

Hannah's bouquet had lime green hydrangeas, orange spray roses, fuchsia purple dendrobium orchids, peach hypericum berries and variegated hosta leaves. She chose to wrap the stems with a chocolate brown ribbon similar to her bridesmaids dresses and finish it off with pearl head pins.

Hannah chose to simplify her bridesmaid bouquets by just using the lime green hydrangeas and peach hypericum berries.

I just love this picture! There is something about the machine and the botanical that just work so well together.

I just have to say that I LOVE eggplant purple…and when Amber came in to talk about her color scheme, I was very excited! It is such a great bold, but elegant color, and it looks amazing mixed with both the fern and olive green tone dresses that are available right now. Although we just did a few pieces for Amber and Vincent’s wedding, I have to post the great photos that Theresa from TAK Photography took. Check out Theresa’s blog for more photos of Amber and Vincent!

The beaming Bride!

Priceless!!

Amber's bouquet of antique green Hydrangeas and deep eggplant purple "Schwartzwolder" miniature Calla lilies

What a great looking couple!!

I met Rich and Amanda over a year ago when they came in on a chilly day for a consultation. I immediatly clicked with this fun-loving couple who were just over the moon for each other and I was so excited when their wedding date finally arrived! On their wedding day, Amanda and Rich were forced to give up their outdoor ceremony in Rosa Parks Circle due to rain and moved the ceremony inside the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel downtown where their reception was taking place. Although it was quite damp outside, every one was all smiles inside and Rich and Amanda’s day turned out to be absolutely fantastic!
Amanda’s bridesmaids wore floor-length pink dresses with a black sash, and Amanda picked out baby pink roses and Dahlias for the bridesmaids and pure white Dahlias and roses for her own bouquet. For the reception, we added some large white Hydrangeas, a touch of black with ribbons, and assorted shades of pink roses to play on the pink a bit.
Chad Bosma of Chad Bosma Photography was kind enough to pass along some wonderful photos of Rich and Amanda’s day, I hope you enjoy!

I LOVE this photo with Amanda's dress hanging from the ceiling in the hotel! Amanda provided the beautiful brooch with diamonds and pearls to go on her bouquet, and the bridesmaids each had a pretty stripe of pink ribbon around the black satin wrap.

Here's a close-up of the diamond and pearl adornment that Amanda had us add to her bouquet...love this detail and her beautiful ring!

The skies finally cleared and they got a few outside shots!

To decorate, we added fresh flowers into Boston Fern plants to create a lush, green arrangement with a bit of pink and white with Larkspur, Stock, Dahlias, and roses.

Amanda and Rich provided small pilsner vases that they picked up from Ikea for their fresh centerpieces. Providing vases is a GREAT way to avoid packing up flowers at the end of the night because you can give them away to guests at the end of the night!

The fabulous wedding cake!
Congratulations, Amanda and Rich!!!

I have been looking forward to Katie and Matt’s wedding since Katie and I first met last year. Although I absolutely love a pink wedding, this one was one of the most exceptional of them all! Katie picked out GORGEOUS bouquets of pink Peonies and accented her own bouquet and the attendant’s bouquets with a few diamonds and crystals.
Katie and Matt got married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, which is absolutely stunning, and continued on to their reception at Centennial Country Club (www.centennialcc.com - who always does a GREAT job!…love Andrea!). Katie’s reception was filled with flowers everywhere (or “flower heaven!” as the Mother of the Bride said!)….we will have reception photos coming soon!
It was an absolute pleasure to work with Katie and her Mom during the flower process, and I am so incredibly thankful for the stunning photos from Theresa and her team from TAK Photogaphy (www.takphotography.com). Theresa is incredibly talented and she truly captured the beauty of Katie and Matt’s day!

Katie's attendants wore azalea dressed and carried gorgeous hand-tied bouquets of white and pale pink Peonies that were finished with pale pink sheer ribbon and crystal pins.

Check out the beautiful church! Also, Katie chose pew decorations that were very simple, yet they made a statement; one stem of pink Oriental lilies and sheer pink and white ribbons.

Thankfully, the rain disappeared and the sun came out....a beautiful day for a beautiful wedding!!

Here I have this beautiful new website and blog, and I am SO behind on blogging! Ever since our website went live, I feel like I don’t know where the time has gone! We have been very busy with wedding flowers and it has kept me from keeping up with the blog!
Over the past few weeks, we have done some AMAZING wedding flowers. I am still waiting patiently for some professional photos, but my own photos will just have to do for now!
To kick off the season, here is a preview of Katie’s wedding, which featured our very own lilacs! Katie’s favorite flowers are lilacs, and we are lucky enough to be able to pick gorgeous lilacs off of our own bushes here!
Please enjoy, and I promise there are many more photos and blogs to come!!
Allison

This is Katie's bridal bouquet, which was constructed with GORGEOUS lavender, purple, light pink, and white Lilacs. Katie's favorite flowers are lilacs, and she was looking for a soft, romantic feel for her bouquet, which was accented with assorted types of Eucalyptus, and finished off with a soft, sheer white ribbon wrap.

Katie's Maid of Honor also carried a bouquet of lilacs, which was smaller in size than the Bridal bouquet, but featured the same assortment of lilacs and greenery.

How can anyone resist a centerpiece with sweet smelling lilacs? This centerpiece arrangement was constructed in a large, low goblet vase.
